We've Raised & Distributed Over $2M Through The Cotillion
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed all of our lives, requiring us to adjust accordingly. This is also true for OBAL and our beloved Cotillion. After thorough research and consultation, it is with regret, we are cancelling our 61 st Cotillion scheduled for December 19, 2020. California directives and Bay Area ordinances are, unfortunately, requiring us to make this decision. Governor Gavin Newsom’s April 28th guidelines for relaxing our current Shelter in Place Orders (SIP) categorizes large gatherings such as the Cotillion as a phase 4 opening. The Governor anticipates phase 4 openings would occur sometime in 2021. We consulted with medical executives at large healthcare companies and they agree hosting an event such as our Cotillion would not be viable in 2020.
While we are disappointed that this decision is necessary, our priority remains the safety and health of our Debutantes, Escorts, families and guests. Additionally, we owe all Cotillion Participants a Cotillion that is the standard of quality and elegance that is OBAL’s legacy. Our anticipated plan is to host a restructured Cotillion in December 2021. We must, however, wait until State and local officials establish firm guidelines for future public gatherings and events, before determining how we will proceed in producing our next Cotillion.
We appreciate your patience during these extraordinary times and hope you remain safe and well. If you have questions, please contact our Debutante Chairs Ms. Lauren Jennings and Mrs. Shakeya A. McDow at firstname.lastname@example.org.
