Even with the challenges of COVID-19, OBAL continues to serve our community with excellence. Congratulations to Services to Youth (STY) Facet Chair Link Lauren Jennings and the STY Committee on a fantastic program at Beyond Emancipation (BE). Thursday, November 19th, the STY committee distributed and delivered Thanksgiving food baskets to BE students.
OBAL received a grant from Safeway awarding us turkeys and gift cards. This grant allowed us to create and distribute 20 thanksgiving food baskets to BE students. Each basket included a Safeway gift card, a personal holiday message from OBAL, a turkey, sides, toilet paper and paper towels.
Thank you to Link Valerie Lewis McGee for guiding us through the grant request process and advocating to Safeway on our behalf. Our relationship with Safeway has been nurtured through the past few years because of Link Valerie’s support. The generosity of Safeway’s grant enabled OBAL to donate more items to each thanksgiving food basket than in previous years.
